[ amid a galaxy that is overrun with celebration, mara jade's own universe has come crashing down in every way possible.

her master, emperor palpatine, is dead, the empire itself now past tense, her network of connections, informants, resources, dead in the water. she has nothing left, except her skills, her anger, and the memory burned into her of the emperor's death.

of his last command.

the once imperial-center is the last place she should be, wanted as she now is, but as the bustling capitol of the galaxy, there's nowhere easier to disappear. especially not for someone trained in how to do so. so here she sits in a cantina where she can listen in on the locals, try to gauge the temperature of how imperials are being treated in the aftermath.

the last thing she expects is to look across the room and see the face of luke skywalker settling in at a table.

blinding anger fills her, shakes her to the very core, and for a moment she feels a flash of impotence that only increases her frustration. all her training, all her power in the force - so much of it had diminished in the wake of palpatine's death, making her acutely aware of just how much of it had been sustained by the emperor himself. she wants to blast these tables aside, feel her hand close around the jedi's throat, watch the life leave his eyes. just the thought of it sends her heart racing wildly, but she's here in the middle of what is now enemy territory, surrounded by civilians, in the worst position to do a damn thing, and reality crumbles her bloodlust finally, leaves her seething instead.

luke will no doubt feel her staring him down before anything, that pair of emerald green eyes shooting sparks from across the room, glaring so balefully at him from beneath a hood that can't hide her red locks entirely. ]
